The Dangerous Adventure

The moment Carys entered my house, we ran to my bed room. In my room, Carys said something I had thought about a long time. “Should we try it again?” I remembered, a few months ago, we tried to go to Carys’s house, which was half an hour away if we went the sensible and safe way, through the streets. But we had decided to climb over my fence, and over an abandoned overgrown field. Last time, we were chased back by a big black dog, and since then I was determined to try it again. So we did.

I packed water, food, and equipment to use. In my bag was chips, and a long rope. We climbed onto the top of the dirty wall, and we jumped. We trudged through the overgrown grass, and I suddenly screamed, “Carys! Watch out!” Carys had nearly stood on a bee hive! Carys breathed a sigh of relief, as we continued forward. But one problem was ahead of us. A big dirt dump, as tall as a house, as wide as 3 trucks blocked our way. We looked at each other, and nodded. Together, we used our hands and feet, climbed to the top of the mountain, and looked at my hand, discovering it sticky with dirt and mud. Then, Carys did something unexpected. She ran, sat, and slid down the other end of the mountain! I followed her, and soon, we were laughing hysterically. We jumped across a poisonous blackberry bush that was buzzing with bees. Finally, we reached another wall. There were electric wires around it. It was a steep and tall wall. Together, we climbed. It seemed like ages, under the hot sun. Finally, we jumped, and landed on fresh grass. We had never been here before. Last time, before we even reached here, the dog chased us back. Now, we were here. I felt like I had climbed Mount Everest. It was such a big accomplishment! We laughed and joked as we ran across the field. We peeped over the fences and... We saw Cary’s mum gardening! She was very surprised when she found us on the other side of the wall. “Carys! How did you get here?” We told her about our brilliant adventure. Then we headed back to my house. I thought that our adventure was over, but I was wrong.

Just as we were about to reach my garden wall, I saw my mum! She climbed over the wall and was on the grass. “What are you doing mum?” I asked curiosity. “Watch out!” There, a few metres away, was the same dog as last time! It was barking loudly, and slowly going forward towards us. My Mum helped push  Carys and me up the wall, and she climbed over too. The dog was left barking furiously on the other side of the fence. It was one of the most exciting days of my life!

  1. Hi Wendy, your description so fascinating that makes me remembering my experiences with my friends when I was a child. The good thing is that you can record your adventures by interesting words which could help you alway remembering them. Well done!
