The day of the Olympics

My heart was pounding with excitement, I raised my head triumphantly. My whole face was glowing with pride, as a gleaming medal hung on my neck . I stood on the podium, but I felt like standing on Cloud 9. I was thrilled, and bullet-proof. Nothing could ruin the most joyous moment of my life.

I received a letter, inviting me to the Olympics running. I was ecstatic, too over the moon, that I did not think about how hard it would be.

I couldn’t run anymore. It was as if I had the whole world on my shoulders. I could feel my face burning, I could fry an egg on it. But I knew that this was the moment I had been waiting for my whole life. I was not going to let this opportunity slip away like dust in my hands. My heart and head throbbed horribly, as if it was going to burst. I kept on running, I did not stop. My mind was completely blurred, and I did not know whether I was at the front or at the back of the race. It didn’t matter anymore, I just had to make it out alive. I couldn’t feel myself at all. If I stopped, I would not keep on going.

Out of the blur and confusion, I saw a finish line, and I could hear people screaming and cheering as if they were crazy.

I saw no people at the finish line, did I come last? My foot crossed the finish line, and that was when I realized…”

Am I first?” The judge hung a medal on my neck, and led me to the podium.  “First place, Wendy Wang, from New

Zealand!”The speaker announced. The crowd went wild. I was still in a daze when more people trickled in from the finish line.

I couldn’t find my parents' faces in the stadium, among the screaming crowd, but I knew they would be proud.

I clutched my gold medal, with a beaming smile on my face, and screamed in my heart, I won the Olympics running!

The Boy in the Tower

This is a picture I drew. It is the tower the boy lives in. The Boy in the Tower is the Chapter Chat book we are reading this term.

Those eyes

Inside those dark midnight eyes, you can see stars. Little bright stars that shone through his eyes. But you can also see a dark figure, dark, but graceful like a swan. It is moving bigger and bigger. Inside those eyes, there is guilt, and regret, and a story that was forgotten, But now, it is the time that shall be told.

He didn’t really have a name. He could remember the moment that he found out his dad was dead. His father sacrificed himself in War, His dad was the only person in  his life he had left. Back then, he had a name. But after all the grief and tragedy he had been through, all happiness had fallen into a black hole, sucked out of his life, along with his name. His mental health ran down hill, Everyone called him, ‘Boy.” Boy lived a very hard life, working constantly in shops to earn money so he could feed himself. But one day, Boy fell in love. He hadn’t known it then, but the sight of the lovely girl, with light brown hair that streamed down her back like a waterfall, had touched his heart and softened it. Her name was Amy. They became fast friends, who met at a local restaurant. Amy was too kind and naive, that she didn’t know Boy’s love for her, she only saw friendship. Boy’s life had been turned, and he saw a different self in him. That is, until he met Addison. Addison was a boy who had a rich family, and was often boasting about how much money he had. Boy would sometimes see Addison walking in and out of shops, wasting his money. But that day, while Boy and Amy were having a deep conversation, Addison saw them. He walked towards them and pushed Boy away from Amy. “What do you think you are doing? Hanging out with her!” Amy looked confused, and said with her sweet and gentle voice, “don’t do that.” Her ocean eyes were staring at Addison. Adisson laughed hysterically. “Standing up for him? Well, I tell you what, I will stop doing that, if you go out with me.” Amy opened her mouth to say something, but before she said anything, Boy ran away.

He hated hearing Addison's foul voice always causing trouble. So Boy had a plan. He took out his pocket knife, and followed Addison home, through the empty street. Just as he was rounding a corner, Boy clasped his hand onto Addison’s throat. Addison made out a terrible gagging sound, then, without a second thought, Boy slit Addison's throat. He watched Addison bleed to death. Then he ran. Away from the crime he had committed, away from everything he had done. His mind was blurry. Finally, he sat down. That was when he saw a beautiful figure walk towards him. “How would you do that?” Amy's voice said. Her voice quivered and tears rolled down her pale face. Her voice ran inside Boy’s ears. Suddenly, guilt and regret flooded him, and he wanted to scream. But he held it in. Amy turned away, and ran. Her light blue dress waved in the wind, as it marked the last time Boy would see her, He had lost the love of his life.
