Duathlon Recount
It was a hot day, the sun shining bright like a red tomato. My legs felt shaky, as monkeys were doing somersaults in my stomach. I tried to think that it was easy running only 3 laps, but I was so nervous I couldn’t think of anything else but my shaky legs.
Boom. Mr Curtis clapped to sygninal the start, and before I knew it, the wind was whistling in my ears, and I was zooming across the field \like a jet plane. Under the bright sun, sweat poured down my back like a waterfall as I tried to keep up speed. The field suddenly seemed so long, so wide, and it was so tiring and hot to run even one lap. Years passed, at least it felt like it. Until finally I ran three laps and I was heading to the pool. I can hear people cheering, Brooke screaming.
I can feel the hard pavement under my feet, and after a few more seconds, I hopped into the pool. My mind felt dizzy, as the cool water touched my skin. A surge of hope and relaxation flooded me, and I started swimming. One length, two lengths, three lengths! Finally I climbed up the ladder. My whole body feeling heavy and cold, I ran across the courts. But I can see Misteri running beside me. Her face was as red as a ripe strawberry and she was trying to keep up speed. Misteri must be so hot and tired! Onto the field, I used all my energy, my last energy, and I sprinted towards the finish line, passing Misteri. One feet across the end, I crashed onto the soft grass, taking deep breaths as I closed my eyes. I came third place! It wasn’t really a fun race, but nevertheless it was a day I will never forget. `
