Taking Flight- If I had a superpower
If I had a superpower, I would want to see the future. If I see the future, then I could avoid some bad things that might happen to me, like having accidents or avoiding something that I would regret. I had been thinking about flying, but I realized that if I flew, then planes or birds might crash into me. Another reason I wanted to see the future if that I could help and warn others about their future.
Taking Flight- Bird of the year
The little blue penguins have a very delicate appearrence. Most of their body is covered in a metallic blue- grey colour, while their stomach is white. They are usually found in Australia and New Zealand. Little Blue Penguins eat fish, squids, and krill. Their feathers protect them against cold weather, and when there is predators, they hide in their burrows. The layer of air that is in their feathers helps them shoot to the surface to catch their prey. Most populations of little blue penguins are not endangered.

The Air Up There: Flying Fungi, Maths question
We tested the air in your classroom and found 7 different kinds of mould. The cleaner says that it takes 5 days for each mould to be removed. If the school had to remove each mould one at a time, how long would it take to remove all the mould?
Answer: 35 days
How I worked it out: Because it said that it took 5 days for each mold, and there were 7 types of mould, I timed the 5 by 7, and the result was 35.
The Air Up There - Carbon Sinks Don't Stink
If I could put the food I don't like down the carbon sinks, then I would definitely throw away Capsicums. I don't like the sweet taste that they produce, which is somehow bitter at the same time.
The second thing I would throw away is peanut butter. I don't hate the taste, but what I don't like about it is that the peanut butter sticks to the roof of my mouth, which is very uncomfortable.
Thirdly, I would get rid of juicy strawberries. Juicy strawberries has a weird taste to it, like it is rotten. turns a nasty shade of red, and also attracts little bugs.

A Heated Debate- Protecting ourselves from Skin Cancer
A Heated Debate- Togs or Trackies?
I encourage my friends and family to visit New Zealand in the middle of Winter. The Winter is not that cold, but still a bit chilly. Remember to bring some warm and thick clothes!
The first place you should visit is definitely the natural hot pools in Taupo and Rotorua. The spa's and hot pools are relaxing, and perfect if you just need a break. Some hot pools has some private spa's where you can hire for your family.
Secondly, Snow mountains are a great choice, for example, Mount Ruapehu or skiing feilds. You can learn how to ski, where you can book classes with professional teachers. There are entertaining gondola's that take you to the top of the mountain, where you can get warm in the cafe. The views are amazing, the snow is like a big white blanket stretching over the mountain, perfect for a photo. The children all love the colourful sleds, you can use them to slide down little hills. Overall, Mount Ruapehu is a great attraction to take your kids to!
Lastly, the Moari New Year is celebrated in Winter. In New Zealand, it is a traditional celebration for the Moari New Year. you can learn all about Moari History, as there are many festivals throughout New Zealand.
Winter is a great time of year to visit New Zealand. There are so much to do. New Zealand is also a very lovely and scenic country, I hope that you will enjoy your visit if you come here!

Persuasive letter 'The Black Hat'
Dear Lakeside Zoo,
I am informed that you are housing an eagle. I suggest that you should free him. Firstly, it wants to fly. Secondly, they aren't born to live in cages. Lastly, they need experience.
My first point is that birds want to fly. But instead, they are stuck in the cage, with no freedom. This is very disastrous for the animal.
My second point is that eagles live on cliffs, not in cages. They are stuck in such a small place, I’m sure they would prefer a natural home.
My last point is that eagles are independent. They fend for themselves, and don’t need zoo workers to give them food. They need to experience being a wild animal.
I hope that after you read this letter, you will change your mind, and kindly set them free. Thank you for your consideration.
Yours sincerely,
Wendy

Books!
How many of you like books? Instead of being on your phone all day, grab a book. A book is the door to another world. There is no other way the get there, at least not yet. In books like Harry Potter, we are sucked into magical fantasy worlds. And in books that are similar in the setting to A Little Princess, we turn back time to the old days.
For me, it's always a pleasure to be reading a nice book with no one interrupting me. Study shows that less than 20 percent of teenagers read books daily, and over 80 percent go onto social media every single day. Non-fiction books have a lot of information that is very helpful, whether it is about science, nature, sports, and much more.
Books are more trustworthy, because a lot of information on social media are fake. The books are read and edited by publishers, which would mean that they have already corrected mistakes. Personely, my favourite book is A Little Princess. I hope that everyone has a favourite too! There are also many genres. Thrillers, Novel, Fiction, and so much more. Books are really a great big part of our life!

A golden rose
Once apon a time, there lived a king. A king was not nice at all to his people. He was very rich, but that did not satisfy him. He yearned to be the ruler of the world, to have all the money. There was a witch, who heard of this greedy king. So she used her magic to turn into the kings friend, and one day, she said, “Your Majesty, If you were the ruler of the world, what would you do? If the world was in danger, people dying, would you use your money to help them?” With a wave of his hand, the king grunted. “Nah. It’s there own problem. Who Cares?” The witch was deeply angered, so, hiding her anger she said, “your majesty, I have heard of a golden rose that has been rumored to be in the forest. The rose is worth billions, if you have it, you can be the richest person in the world!”
Immediately the king sat bold upright in his throne. “What? Get me the carriage now!” He shouted rudely. So he the king was sent to the forest, with hundred of soldiers marching behind him. Once they arrived, the king said, “You! All of the soldiers! You are all to leave immedialty, who knows if you will try to steal My Precious golden rose?” The soldiers left. But one clever soldier hid behind a tree. He was indeed very clever, and he had sensed that the kings friend had something fishy about him. The kings friend was as greedy as .the king, and the soldier knew that the friend would have kept the rose to himself. The soldier also had never heard of a golden rose, and had suspicions that it might be fake or dangerous. The king meanwhile, jumped off the carriage, running towards the golden rose shouting, “I’ll be the richest in the world! I’ll be the richest in the world!”
The instant he landed his hand onto the golden rose, he jumped back. “What…?” The rose had electric shocked him! But he didn’t care. All he wanted was the money/ He reached out again, and this time he screamed in agony. Drops of green blood seeped out of his hand. In an instant, he fainted. The soldier, who had been watching the whole time, ran forward and carried the king back to the palace. Once there, he called the doctors and he raced to the kitchen. You see, he was very smart. He knew of this curse, he had dealt with witches before. He made a unique medicine, which saved the king’s life. After that incident, the king understood the mistakes he made before. So he upgraded his kingdom, gave money and food to the poor, and lived happy ever after.
Music
At 9:05 on Thursday we went to the hall for music with Fran. We used pizzicato on the violins. We made a nice tune, using the bow. It hurt my ears a bit, when we were playing the E string. The sound was so high! When put our fingers on the top of the strings so that when we played it, it would make a different sound. Using the violins was a great experience, there was a lot of things we learned.
Maths
The maths this term has been awesome. Despite Lockdown, we still did quite a lot. The first is Prototec. I did stage 8 and received 95%. After that I didn’t need to do it anymore. I went onto IXL, which is a maths website which has heaps of activities I could choose from. There was square roots, algorithm, factors, and much more! There was also Beat The Clock. It was a sheet of paper where there were some basic facts on it. We would time ourselves and see how long it took us to finish it. We persisted everyday, and gradually got shorter times, which meant that we were improving! Khan Academy was also really helpful this term. In it we did some coding. It would give us instructions on how to code, and we used the code to make pictures move, to create different shapes and colours. I enjoyed all of the maths in this term.

Part two Emily's Robot
Part 2 of Emily's Robot
Sadness filled my whole body. Sure, the city was saved but what was the difference? My mum was...I don’t know where she was and whether she was dead or alive. Then I thought of something. What if she was captured? I climbed back into the robot and pushed a lot of buttons. Suddenly, I heard a sound behind me. Turning around, I nearly fainted. “Mum...Mum!” It was my mum. Except, she wasn’t like my mum. She had metal arms and legs, and a metal face. She was a robot. “What happened to you?” She just stared at me. What happened next was crazy. I am still freaked out till this day. She reached out and...Strangled me!? Why would my mum do this? I knew then. She was transformed into a robot, and now she didn’t have a mind of her own. She was controlled by...Emily?
I was starting to choke. Before I fainted, I caught a glimpse of Emily. I understood everything now. Emily wasn’t dead, she was a robot, so that was why she came back. She was made of metal. She was immortal. Just then everything turned black. When I woke up, I found myself in a dark room. Then the lights were on. It was Emily. But that wasn’t what made me gasp. Her assistants were. Dressed in black dresses were Brooke and Carys. They weren’t robots. “What, why are you with her? Are you captured as well?” Carys scoffed. “Wendy, you do know that we were pretending to be your friend all along?” Then Brooke spoke. “Yeah Wendy. It’s such a good job being the assistant of Emily, We earn so much money.” I could not believe my ears. I could not believe anything! Anger ate me up from the inside. It gave me energy, power. I released it. Screaming and shouting in their faces, I said, “You two! Betrayers! Traitors! How dare you turn on me? What about all those times when I was kind to you? Remember all those days when we were happy? And you do this?” Brooke and Carys were shocked. Even Emily opened her mouth. But then she said, “You will be a very good robot Wendy. You two! Put her into the robot machine!” But I couldn’t. I will not let them do this to me. I pushed them with all my strength, and managed to jump out the window. I fell. And fell. The next thing I knew, I landed on the ground and ran to the library. When I arrived, I immediately went to the robot section.
Pulling out a book, I flipped through it until I found the page. I had read this before. The only way to fight a robot or turn it back to a human is to get some mint leaves. Robots hate that smell, and it is the only way to turn them back to normal. I ran home, and pulling out some mint leaves from the garden, I ran all the way back to the robot. Climbing up high, I hopped in again. “You again?” Said Emily, glaring at me. I pulled out the mint leaves and… “Ahh! Emily shouted as she slowley turned back to a human. I punched her right in the face. She fainted. Then I went to find my mum. Before she could strangle me again, She turned into a human at the smell of the mint. Everything was turned back to normal. I turned to my ex-best friends. “You two! How...Dare...YOU!” I grabbed a rope from my bag and tied them up. Later on that day, Brooke, Carys, and Emily were all sent to jail. My mum and I went home happily.
The End
Emily's Robot
The ground shook. I looked out the window, and to my horror, I saw…”Mum! There a giant robot outside!” It was true. A robot with the words 28 on it was stomping in the streets and passer bys were running everywhere. “What?” My mum came into the living room carrying a basket of laundry. When she looked out the window, the basket came crashing down and the clothes tipped over. Her face became pale as she whispered under her breath, “Emily’s robot.” I asked her what was Emily’s robot. But she didn’t seem to hear me. She shoved some water and food into her bag and ushered me into the car. I was confused. Suddenly, a big rock came down on us. It wasn’t a rock, a boulder. It hit our car and made a big dent on the roof.
“Run!” My mum grabbed me and we ran. Dodging rocks and boulders that fell from the sky, we sprinted through the city. Towers were falling, and their was only screams of people that were hurt or captured. Finally, we stopped behind a bush and took deep breaths. “Mum, who is Emily’s robot?” My mum stared at me. “You see, Emily was my childhood best friend. Once, there was a competition of who can build the best robot. I won. But Emily was always arrogant and always got what she wanted. She became angry, and started to spread rumors that I had cheated. I hadn’t. So the next day, I confronted her and at the end of our argument, she said, “I will build it robot. It will be better than yours. It will rule the world.” Of course I didn’t believe her. How would a 6th grader build such a thing? But I guess I was wrong AHHH!” Out of nowhere, a giant boulder fell. A shadow loomed over us. The last thing I saw was my mum’s terrified face before she disappeared in a blink of an eye. I don’t know where she went, and I never will. At that moment I looked up and stared right at Emily’s robot.
My body shook, with mingled anger and sadness. I didn’t know what I was doing. I ran and grabbed onto its leg. Of course, it resisted and started shaking it. But I was determined to get revenge. As it swayed and shook, I jumped onto the head of the robot. I held on and felt a button. Opening it swiftly, I swung myself in. And I saw Emily. I walked quietly towards her, not making a bit of sound. Then I lunged myself at her. I kicked opened the window and threw her out. “I will get revenge!” She screamed as she fell. But I doubt she will. I pushed the red button and immediately the robot stopped moving. All I needed to do was to find my mum. But little did I know...

Back to school
I feel very happy about coming back to school. At home in lockdown, there was three things that was the same as school. The first one was that Whaea Annie was still teaching us. Even though we stayed at home, we learnt a lot through google meets with Whaea Annie. The second thing was that we still did our todays slideshow. Every morning, Whaea Annie would cast onto google meet our today slideshow, and she would ask us each Kei te pehea koe, which meant how are you feeling today. We did the routine everyday. The last thing that was the same was that we did work on the class website. There was a lot of work to choose from and to keep us busy in lockdown.
For example, on the class website, Whaea Annie made a Writing Slideshow which was very interesting. There was still some things that was different from school at home. We had no face to face talking, as we were on google meets. And we also didn’t have to finish at 3:00, as we could choose to keep on doing our work. Lastly, school didn’t start at 9:00, it started at 9:30.
There were two things that I missed about school. The first is Whaea Annie. I missed having face to face conversations with her. The second is that I missed seeing my friends. During lockdown, I couldn’t see them, only on google meets. School has changed a little. We have to sanatise our hands when we come into class. There is another change, and it is that Artsplash is cancelled. I’m a bit disappointed about it. I enjoyed sharing on my blog and also doing as much maths as I like. My favourite activity from lockdown is planting. We were weeding in the garden, and also sprinkling some grass seeds on the dirt.
Overall, lockdown was a great experience, but I love going to school a lot more.

Erased from my life
Yawning, I went down the stairs. "Mum! Is breakfast ready yet?" Silence. I frowned. Walking faster, I entered the living room. I stood in shock. There was no one, and the furniture was gone. I quickly ran to my parents bedroom. The bed was empty, and there was no one. My heart started pounding, where are they? Going back to the kitchen, I made myself some food, and sat down on the bench. They probably had just gone to a work meeting. But why had they taken the furniture? I waited. The day passed, and they sill hadn't come home. Then I spotted something on my dad's desk.
A ticket. It was a plane ticket. Had they...Then the door opened suddenly, as my dad rushed in. Looking around, he saw the ticket and ran towards it. I was so relieved. "Dad, where have you been?" But he just grabbed the ticket and said to himself, "Oh no, we won't get to the airport in time!" "Dad!" I shouted, trying to get his attention. He didn't even look at me. I reached out, trying to grab him, but I fell over, as my hand went right through him! I was so scared. Then something caught my eye. The family picture on the wall. It had always been there, a picture of my parents and I, taking a selfie. But I wasn't there anymore. There was only my dad and my mum. Horror washed over me. This isn't real, this isn't! I kept repeating to myself. How could it be? Yesterday night my parents could still see and hear me, and now they can't. But then, I remembered something.
That night, my mum had gave me a big lecture, and I was very angry. I went to my room and opened up my computer. I opened up Siri so I could just have someone to talk to. "HI Siri." Hello, how can I help you?" "I want to be erased forever, because I don't want to be here anymore." I said, as I was still very angry. "Ok." Said Siri. I didn't take it seriously. What could a robot like Siri do? And the anwser was, a lot. Because now, I was actually erased from my life. No one remembers me anymore.

A stranger
Cold sweat covered my hands. I grabbed my bag tightly. I could hear the sound of footsteps behind me. I wished I had listened to my mum, how I wished. But it was all too late. I started jogging. Then running. I did not want to see who was behind me. The empty streets were silent, except for the footsteps of the person behind me. They had started running too. What did they want to do with me? It all started that morning.
“Mum, can I please go to the park after school?” “No Wendy, it’s winter now. The day is shorter, and there is no time to go to the park. It will be very dark by then.” I did not listen to her. I thought that I could manage myself. So after school when I was supposed to go home, I went to the park. I played for so long that I didn’t notice it was dark. No stars shone in the sky. No moon was hanging in the sky like normal. No one in the streets. I grabbed my bag and started walking home.
Home was not that far away. Then out of the corner of my eye, I saw a man. He was dressed from head to toe in black, with a hood over his face and hands in pockets. He was sitting on a wooden seat in the park. I had not noticed him then, but I did now. And that was because he had stood up and started walking towards me. Immediately I knew something was wrong. I started walking fast, afraid that it would be too obvious that I was scared of him if I ran. It was completely dark. I was nearly home, nearly...Then, a hand reached out and grabbed me.

A mystery forever
The door creaked as I slowly walked in. It was very dark. There was a lit candle in the corner. The room was scattered with furniture and crumpled paper, as if someone had made a big mess and had not bothered to tidy it up. I picked up a piece of paper, but strangely, nothing was on it. Trying not to make any sound, I crept up the stairs. A gust of wind blew from an open window. In the bedroom, there was no one. As I examined it, I nearly screamed in horror.
A small boy was huddled in a corner, his back facing at me. His skin was pale, and he was wearing t-shirts and shorts on this cold winter day. Suddenly, I heard footsteps in the hall. I shot my head back, and saw an old woman. She had wrinkled skin, with her eyes staring right at me, with her walking stick rapping against the floor. “Who are you, and why are you in my house!” She said in a raspy voice. I opened my mouth, but no sound came out. I took many steps backward, to the stairs. She still followed me. I had read on the newspaper years ago about the old couple that had mysteriously died, and their grandson who disappeared. Was this their ghost?
I ran down the stairs and into the living room, and ran through the front door. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw an old man, rocking back and forth in a chair in the corner. I nearly fainted. How come I haven't seen him when I came in? I sprinted all the way back home. Gasping for air, I slammed the front door behind me. “Mum, I…” I started. “Don’t tell me you went to play with your friends again at the park. Go do your homework. Dinner’s nearly ready.” She said, as she chopped the potatoes. “I saw the ghost of the dead grandparents and their son in that abandoned house!” I said in one breath. Mum looked at me strangely. “Don’t talk nonsense Wendy.” Then she went back to making dinner.

First loss
“Ollie! Ollie! I’m back!” Shouted Mia as she put down her school bag. The house was strangely quiet. There was no familiar barking of her dog Ollie. Instantly she knew something was wrong. She called again, and hearing no response, went around the house searching for him. She was beginning to think that her mum had brought him to the vet again when she saw something that made her freeze. Slowly, the colour drained from Mia’s face.
“Ollie!” She flung herself onto the ground beside him. Ollie had both eyes closed, and he was not breathing. Tears streamed down Mia’s face as she stroked his head. Ollie was Mia’s best friend. Mia did not have friends at school, she was always left out by the other children. Ollie was what kept Mia happy, he was there for her everyday of her life. It was clear that Ollie had died of old age. Weeks before Mia’s mum had brought him to the vet, and the Vet said that Ollie was slowly dying. Mia did not believe that Ollie was going to die, she did not want to believe it. Now Ollie had died home alone, with no one beside him to comfort him! The more Mia thought, the more she cried. She rang her mother, and her mother came home immediately from work.
They buried him under an old oak tree, and on top of his grave lay a red ball, which was Ollie's favourite toy. Mia’s heart throbbed and ached, as she cried and cried. That night, she tossed and turned, but couldn’t sleep. When she finally drifted off, she thought she heard Ollie’s barking. But it was all her imagination. Mia had a wonderful dream. She dreamed that she saw Ollie in heaven, playing with many other dogs, and barking happily. She shed many tears in her sleep, as she saw her beloved dog in heaven. Mia’s Mum told her that Ollie would be watching her from heaven. Mia would always have a place in Ollie’s heart.
The music contest
As Aisha looked into her father’s eyes, she blinked back tears. Why couldn’t they afford a doctor? Aisha’s father was very sick, and since they were living in poverty, which was usual in India, their family could not afford any medicine. Just a few days ago, Aisha had seen a flyer about a music contest. She was determined to compete and win to make her father proud.
Aisha had not seen her father smile for years, ever since their family fell into poverty, and wasn’t even able to afford food. Some nights Aisha would play on her flute to keep herself company. Aisha loved music. She had an old flute which was her father’s when he was young. He had passed it down to his daughter. That night, Aisha’s father lay on the cold concrete floor with only a small blanket. Drops of rain leaked through the worn-out roof. As a storm raged on like an angry bull. There was a small television, very old and small, but still in use. Aisha’s father saw in the TV his daughter, winning first place in the music contest.
Aisha stood on the podium with a gleaming medal on her neck, standing in triumph and pride. It brang back wonderful memories of his childhood, when he loved playing music, when he was a very happy boy. It was the last thing Aisha’s father saw. Then slowly, as he smiled proudly, he closed his eyes, and never open them again.

A Ghost town with a Ghost train
It had been a very long time since any train had been on this railroad. A very long time. The last train that came here was a hundred years ago, when there was still people living in this town. But now, there was not a soul in sight. This was a Ghost town. Reports have said that many travelers have been scared by this mysterious town. Sightings of ghosts had been seen here before. Noah’s dad told Noah that their visit to this town was not going to be easy.
They had not eaten for days, and were very hungry. This was the closest town near them. Despite their fear of this town, they decided to go in, to see if they could get any food. Noah’s dad told him to wait by the empty train station to wait for him. Noah looked around, as he sat down on a wooden seat. He looked around. The station was empty. It was very quiet except for the sound of a train horn. Wait, a train horn? Noah jumped out of his seat. Sure enough, he saw a train, on the abandoned rail track. Didn’t this rail road close down a long time ago? Noah’s curiosity got the better of him. He ran as fast as he could, and jumped with all his might.
He was on the train. He quickly found a door and pushed it open. Inside, it was as silent as death. Noah crept in, and glanced around. There were suitcases, and signs that people had been here. But there was no one in sight. He went to the front of the train, expecting to see the driver. But to his horror, he found that there wasn’t one, and the train was driving on it’s own. Were there ghosts? All this was enough for Noah, as he ran back to the door and tried to open it. He couldn’t. The door wouldn’t budge. Suddenly, he felt a cold presence...

I don't wanna go to school!
I don’t wanna go to school Mum,
I would rather be here with you.
My stomach hurts so much,
I think I’ve got the flu.
You don’t know how it feels,
I’d rather be snoring,
I hate going to school,
School is so boring!

The parting of two friends
Tears splattered down Sara’s face uncontrollably, as she slowly released the leash off Boston. She was as silent as a grave. Her heartache was like a knife, cutting through her. Deep down, she knew that Boston had to go, to find his own tower of giraffes, to his family. Sara embraced Boston for one last time, and she let him go. Boston didn’t move. Then Boston’s eyes watered. Sara couldn’t believe her eyes. Could giraffes cry? Sara slowly said, in a voice sore from crying, “You have to go, Boston. Your family is waiting for you.” So Boston, giving Sara a last loving glance, walked away, far way, into the grassland. Sara couldn’t control herself, as she collapsed, and sat there. But she had no tears left to cry. She sat there, for a long time. Her eyes were as dry as sand. Until she finally took a deep breath, and went back home, which was far away from the grasslands, far away from Boston. Even though Boston was in the grasslands, living a great life with his family, his memory of Sara did not fade away, and it never will. The memory of the day they parted, was as clear as water, as if it was yesterday.

The day of the Olympics
My heart was pounding with excitement, I raised my head triumphantly. My whole face was glowing with pride, as a gleaming medal hung on my neck . I stood on the podium, but I felt like standing on Cloud 9. I was thrilled, and bullet-proof. Nothing could ruin the most joyous moment of my life.
I received a letter, inviting me to the Olympics running. I was ecstatic, too over the moon, that I did not think about how hard it would be.
I couldn’t run anymore. It was as if I had the whole world on my shoulders. I could feel my face burning, I could fry an egg on it. But I knew that this was the moment I had been waiting for my whole life. I was not going to let this opportunity slip away like dust in my hands. My heart and head throbbed horribly, as if it was going to burst. I kept on running, I did not stop. My mind was completely blurred, and I did not know whether I was at the front or at the back of the race. It didn’t matter anymore, I just had to make it out alive. I couldn’t feel myself at all. If I stopped, I would not keep on going.
I saw no people at the finish line, did I come last? My foot crossed the finish line, and that was when I realized…”
Am I first?” The judge hung a medal on my neck, and led me to the podium. “First place, Wendy Wang, from New
Zealand!”The speaker announced. The crowd went wild. I was still in a daze when more people trickled in from the finish line.
I couldn’t find my parents' faces in the stadium, among the screaming crowd, but I knew they would be proud.
I clutched my gold medal, with a beaming smile on my face, and screamed in my heart, I won the Olympics running!

The Boy in the Tower

Those eyes
Inside those dark midnight eyes, you can see stars. Little bright stars that shone through his eyes. But you can also see a dark figure, dark, but graceful like a swan. It is moving bigger and bigger. Inside those eyes, there is guilt, and regret, and a story that was forgotten, But now, it is the time that shall be told.
He didn’t really have a name. He could remember the moment that he found out his dad was dead. His father sacrificed himself in War, His dad was the only person in his life he had left. Back then, he had a name. But after all the grief and tragedy he had been through, all happiness had fallen into a black hole, sucked out of his life, along with his name. His mental health ran down hill, Everyone called him, ‘Boy.” Boy lived a very hard life, working constantly in shops to earn money so he could feed himself. But one day, Boy fell in love. He hadn’t known it then, but the sight of the lovely girl, with light brown hair that streamed down her back like a waterfall, had touched his heart and softened it. Her name was Amy. They became fast friends, who met at a local restaurant. Amy was too kind and naive, that she didn’t know Boy’s love for her, she only saw friendship. Boy’s life had been turned, and he saw a different self in him. That is, until he met Addison. Addison was a boy who had a rich family, and was often boasting about how much money he had. Boy would sometimes see Addison walking in and out of shops, wasting his money. But that day, while Boy and Amy were having a deep conversation, Addison saw them. He walked towards them and pushed Boy away from Amy. “What do you think you are doing? Hanging out with her!” Amy looked confused, and said with her sweet and gentle voice, “don’t do that.” Her ocean eyes were staring at Addison. Adisson laughed hysterically. “Standing up for him? Well, I tell you what, I will stop doing that, if you go out with me.” Amy opened her mouth to say something, but before she said anything, Boy ran away.
He hated hearing Addison's foul voice always causing trouble. So Boy had a plan. He took out his pocket knife, and followed Addison home, through the empty street. Just as he was rounding a corner, Boy clasped his hand onto Addison’s throat. Addison made out a terrible gagging sound, then, without a second thought, Boy slit Addison's throat. He watched Addison bleed to death. Then he ran. Away from the crime he had committed, away from everything he had done. His mind was blurry. Finally, he sat down. That was when he saw a beautiful figure walk towards him. “How would you do that?” Amy's voice said. Her voice quivered and tears rolled down her pale face. Her voice ran inside Boy’s ears. Suddenly, guilt and regret flooded him, and he wanted to scream. But he held it in. Amy turned away, and ran. Her light blue dress waved in the wind, as it marked the last time Boy would see her, He had lost the love of his life.

A Good Trip Gone Wrong
“Bye Brooke!” Carys and I waved to Brooke as the ship slowly sailed out to sea. “This is going to be exciting!” Carys said to me, as a wave of delight rushed through us. The sun was warm, and we thought that nothing can ruin this wonderful trip to Australia. We went to the cafeteria. As we drank some chocolate, we talked about how lucky we were to win the trip. We won a contest, and got the prize. As the sun slowly descended from the clear blue sky, we excitedly took our key and rushed to our cabin. Carys climbed to the top bunk immediately, as she poked her tongue at my angry and upset face. “You always get to be up there?” I said, angrily. But Carys said nothing, as she rolled around in laughter. We ate a marvelous dinner at the buffet, and climbed into bed. I closed my eyes, and dreamed of an earthquake. My eyes opened. The ship was shaking! ‘Thump’ “Are you okay Carys?” Carys had fallen off the top bunk! “Never mind, Quick! I think the ship is sinking!” We opened the door. Water a foot tall rushed towards us. We trudged through it, and came to a deck. Another ship had crashed with us! “Come! Jump in here!” One of the crew said. People rushed into the lifeboats. Luckily, there were many lifeboats. My face was as pale as death, as I felt Carys heavy breathing. The boat descended into the sea. Suddenly, the boat broke apart. I was in the middle, and I fell into the water. “No! Wendy! NO!” I could hear Carys horrified screams.
It was like a ghost, a cold and freezing ghost, pulling me towards the bottom of the sea. The water pierced my skin like someone cutting me open. Carys reached out a hand/ I grabbed it. And at that point, Everything went black. When I awoke, I found myself on a half of the boat. Only Carys and I were on it. “What?...” I said weakly. “Wendy!” Carys was so happy, she nearly toppled into the water. The sun came out, as it baked us like meat. “The other boat fell apart, and all the other people were on the other side of the boat.” Carys said. “Look!” I shouted, as a small island came into sight. We used our hands to paddle towards it. A wave nearly flipped us over. But we kept on, and soon, we were standing on it. “I’m hungry.” Said Carys, as her stomach growled like a hungry bear. A rabbit rushed pass. “Quick!” Carys grabbed a stone, and threw it at the bunny. It striked it in the head. It fell, and was dead. I made a fire, and roasted it. The next day, as we were building a boat, Carys said, “Look!” A tiger was behind the trees! Carys said in a proud and arrogant voice, “Look, Wendy, I can kill that in like, um, no time!” She grabbed a rock and threw it. It hit the head, but it didn’t hurt the tiger, but annoyed it. It ran towards Carys, “Ahh!” Carys toppled over, and the tiger bit her badly. I grabbed a stick, and threw it hard at the tiger. It fell. It was not dead, but too hurt to stand up. I dragged carys away, into the forest, far away from the tiger. I quickly grabbed my medical book from my bag, and out toppled some cookies. I gave one to Carys, as I looked in the book. Antibiotics, illness cures, plants, herbs...Cure for tiger bites! It was a herb. I quickly looked everywhere, and found it. I did as the book said, I squeezed it onto Carys wound. The blood stopped, and it quickly healed. “Well, I guess you are okay now.” I said to Carys. “That taught me never to be too rough and arrogant now.” Admitted Carys, blushing as deep as an apple. For the next few days, we lived on fruits and vegetables we found on the island. We built a boat. It was very strong, there were 2 layers, the bottom was where we could hide from rain and sleep, and the top was to steer the boat. We sailed out on a sunny day. We took turns to steering the boat and resting. We gathered plenty of food and water to last for months.
The first night was peaceful, but the second night there was a monster wave! We saw the wave rise up, and we quickly climbed into our under-boat Cabin. “Whoosh” We could hear it as it crashed down on the boat, and the boat shaked horribly. After a while, everything was calm, but we stayed underneath. Finally, we took a peek outside. “Yes!” There was a rainbow, and we saw our home! We were at the shore, so we hopped off the boat and quickly ran to the street. We used the money that was left to get a bus ticket, and first Carys was dropped off to her home, and then mine. As I got home, my mum asked why I arrived late. I said, “Because Carys and I went to an ice cream store. No one knew our secret, not a single soul in the world.

Carys Betrayel
“So? There is no way to betray me, Carys Watkins!” I screamed at Carys. Angry tears swelled up in my eyes. “I don’t know, and I don’t care, it’s for your own good.” Carys said, her face as plain as ever. “I thought you were my friend! I shall never trust you.” I shouted. My angry shouts awoke the silent night. Birds fluttered out of the trees, and the wind howled, feeling sad for me. My hair blew in the wind, as my face turned patches of red and white. I turned my back and walked away. I couldn’t help the angry streames of tears that rolled down my cheeks. 2 times! The first time I forgave her when she copied my whole sheet of exam questions, but this time, forgiving was not a solution. I had found a secret portal at camp, that leaded to another world. I told carys, I knew she would be loyal and not tell anyone. But she did. She reported it to the camp workers, helpers, and teachers. The teachers scolded me, and they gave Carys a certificate for reporting it to them. We had been friends for years, and I never thought she would do this to me. I went inside the tent and cried myself to sleep. From that day on, I never talked to Carys again. Until one day… I was 23, and I was looking for a job. “Yes, you are accepted to an job.” Said the boss. I jumped up from my seat. “Thank you, Mr Wright.” I walked out the door happily. My smile faded as I saw someone familiar. Hazel eyes, dark brown hair, faint eyebrows…”Carys?!” My jaw dropped to the ground. “Who..Oh. Hello Wendy.” Carys said shocked and hesitantly. I noticed something different about her. She had a long cut across her face. “Whats that?” I said coldly, remembering the night of her betrayel. “Oh, and why would you need to know?” Said Carys, back to her cold and sarcastic voice. But I could hear a bit of fear in her voice. “Fine then.” I said, as I walked out the building. I had a strange idea. Had the cut had something to do with the portal?
The End.

The Dangerous Adventure
The moment Carys entered my house, we ran to my bed room. In my room, Carys said something I had thought about a long time. “Should we try it again?” I remembered, a few months ago, we tried to go to Carys’s house, which was half an hour away if we went the sensible and safe way, through the streets. But we had decided to climb over my fence, and over an abandoned overgrown field. Last time, we were chased back by a big black dog, and since then I was determined to try it again. So we did.
I packed water, food, and equipment to use. In my bag was chips, and a long rope. We climbed onto the top of the dirty wall, and we jumped. We trudged through the overgrown grass, and I suddenly screamed, “Carys! Watch out!” Carys had nearly stood on a bee hive! Carys breathed a sigh of relief, as we continued forward. But one problem was ahead of us. A big dirt dump, as tall as a house, as wide as 3 trucks blocked our way. We looked at each other, and nodded. Together, we used our hands and feet, climbed to the top of the mountain, and looked at my hand, discovering it sticky with dirt and mud. Then, Carys did something unexpected. She ran, sat, and slid down the other end of the mountain! I followed her, and soon, we were laughing hysterically. We jumped across a poisonous blackberry bush that was buzzing with bees. Finally, we reached another wall. There were electric wires around it. It was a steep and tall wall. Together, we climbed. It seemed like ages, under the hot sun. Finally, we jumped, and landed on fresh grass. We had never been here before. Last time, before we even reached here, the dog chased us back. Now, we were here. I felt like I had climbed Mount Everest. It was such a big accomplishment! We laughed and joked as we ran across the field. We peeped over the fences and... We saw Cary’s mum gardening! She was very surprised when she found us on the other side of the wall. “Carys! How did you get here?” We told her about our brilliant adventure. Then we headed back to my house. I thought that our adventure was over, but I was wrong.
Just as we were about to reach my garden wall, I saw my mum! She climbed over the wall and was on the grass. “What are you doing mum?” I asked curiosity. “Watch out!” There, a few metres away, was the same dog as last time! It was barking loudly, and slowly going forward towards us. My Mum helped push Carys and me up the wall, and she climbed over too. The dog was left barking furiously on the other side of the fence. It was one of the most exciting days of my life!

Duathlon Recount
It was a hot day, the sun shining bright like a red tomato. My legs felt shaky, as monkeys were doing somersaults in my stomach. I tried to think that it was easy running only 3 laps, but I was so nervous I couldn’t think of anything else but my shaky legs.
Boom. Mr Curtis clapped to sygninal the start, and before I knew it, the wind was whistling in my ears, and I was zooming across the field \like a jet plane. Under the bright sun, sweat poured down my back like a waterfall as I tried to keep up speed. The field suddenly seemed so long, so wide, and it was so tiring and hot to run even one lap. Years passed, at least it felt like it. Until finally I ran three laps and I was heading to the pool. I can hear people cheering, Brooke screaming.
I can feel the hard pavement under my feet, and after a few more seconds, I hopped into the pool. My mind felt dizzy, as the cool water touched my skin. A surge of hope and relaxation flooded me, and I started swimming. One length, two lengths, three lengths! Finally I climbed up the ladder. My whole body feeling heavy and cold, I ran across the courts. But I can see Misteri running beside me. Her face was as red as a ripe strawberry and she was trying to keep up speed. Misteri must be so hot and tired! Onto the field, I used all my energy, my last energy, and I sprinted towards the finish line, passing Misteri. One feet across the end, I crashed onto the soft grass, taking deep breaths as I closed my eyes. I came third place! It wasn’t really a fun race, but nevertheless it was a day I will never forget. `
